This years visit with Santa didn't go quite as well as previous years. I think the older Ashton gets, the more leery she is of strange, old men in costumes (nothing against the sweet Santa's that we saw).
Our first attempt was at Breakfast with Santa that is put on by my MOPS church, Saint Paul's United Methodist. It was just Trey and I with Ashton since Kaylyn wasn't with us. We had a wonderful breakfast and then decided it was time to go see the BIG man. I could tell that Ashton was getting nervous while we were in line because she wouldn't talk to any of her little friends and she more or less attached herself to Trey's leg.
Such a ham...
You could tell she was really getting nervous.
By the time we got to Santa, there was absolutely no putting her in his lap. She climbed up her daddy as fast as she could (all the way to his head) and then clung to him for dear life.
And she was definitely not going to turn around for a picture!
We finally decided to take a chance at a family shot and this was the best we could get.
After we left, Ashton said that she would go see Santa again, but only with her YaYa. Since I really wanted to get a good picture, we decided to try again with YaYa at the Bass Pro Shop. We went on a Monday night and it was perfect! They had the best setup with coloring sheets and DIY ornaments while you waited and then Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus were both really sweet.
Almost our turn...
When the girls first walked up, I thought Ashton was going to back out again...
But in the end, we were able to get her to sit in Santa's lap while YaYa sat on Mrs. Claus (Kaylyn only agreed to it because she is the BEST big sister ever) and we got a great picture!
I love these two so much!
