Walk For Life - 2014

On Saturday, March 8th our family participated in the Walk For Life that benefited A Women's Pregnancy Center here in Tallahassee. My good friend Katie is a volunteer at the center and we knew that we wanted to walk with she and her family to support such a great cause. Having had numerous miscarriages, the thought of someone willingly choosing to abort tears me to pieces. Anything or any amount of money that we could raise to save the life of even just one baby was totally worth it.

The day was beautiful and being able to walk with other friends from our church was even better. Wildwood was even in the top 3 of churches that raised the most money. How awesome is that!

On our way to the walk, we drove past a cow pasture (the one you can see from I-10) and I said to Trey that there was no way we were walking in that. Well, I was wrong...that is exactly where we walked. We had tried to dodge some cow patties with little ones and strollers in tow, but other than that, it was a great walk. And it makes for a good story!

A little fun after the walk...

It was Mike and Rachel's anniversary, but they still made time to support such a great cause.

A HUGE thank you to everyone that supported our family as we raised money to try and save the lives of babies. Without your donations, we couldn't have accomplished what we did. You guys made it all possible!

Daddy & Daughter Sock Hop

Our church puts on a Daddy & Daughter Sock Hop every year, but because of one thing or another, this was the first time for Trey and the girls to attend. I was going to volunteer, but I had an event to attend to support one of my fabulous MOPS coordinators. It was so hard not to be there, but my sweet friends text me pictures throughout the night so that I could see how cute the girls were and how much fun they were having. One of my good friends even took tons of pictures and let me have her camera card. Thank you Megan for capturing the night and making this blog post possible!!!

Before daddy and the girls left, we did get the chance to take a few pictures.

Ashton wore a cute poodle skirt (thank you Brooke J. for making it) and Kaylyn wore capri jeans with her Keds and a scarf in her hair.

Look at this little thing...

I love this one of the girls...

During the Sock Hop, the church sets up bowling, a drive in, a diner and so many other things. There is food, milkshakes, sodas in bottles and anything else you could think of.

Being silly, but having so much fun...

Dancing girls.

The dads said it felt like 8th grade prom. None of the girls wanted to dance with daddy.

Even sweet Scarlett was there. Kaylyn of course had to take a peek.

Soda in a bottle and popcorn. It doesn't get much better than that.

These two girls are too sweet!

I love those little faces.

My girls.

There was even a hula hoop contest and Kaylyn came in 1st place.

Sweet sisters.

Even though I wasn't there, I know that Trey and the girls had a blast. They told me all about it once they got home and thanks to Megan, I have the pictures to prove it! I cannot wait till next year and I'm definitely going to be there.

A Small Part of the World & Immigration Day

On March 6th, Kaylyn had her yearly musical performance. This year's theme was A Small Part of the World. It went along perfectly with the students lesson on immigration. Mrs. Luhrs did a wonderful job teaching the kids the songs and their parts. It's always so much fun watching.

Kaylyn had a speaking part again this year...

And she did a great job!

This is most of Kaylyn's 5th grade class.

The next day was Immigration Day at school. It was so much fun to see the kids dress in outfits that represented the country they immigrated from. Kaylyn studied her Korean heritage and even dressed in traditional Korean dress. All of the kids had to participate in order to receive their visa to come into the country.

I had the opportunity to sit at the Visa desk and ask questions of the students (their full name, what country they were born in, what their nationality was and who they planned on visiting in the United States). Either they passed with flying colors or I got to deport them.

After everyone passed all of the stations, we had a huge lunch that featured foods from all of the countries that the students represented.

Kaylyn went for the chicken...

Kaylyn's grandmother made egg rolls.

She also went for the Italian food...

Our fifth grade year at Hawks Rise is quickly coming to an end, but I enjoy being able to participate in all of the festivities that we have left. The teachers and students worked so hard on everything for this day and it all turned out perfect!
