Last Thursday, Kaylyn and I left the house around 5:00am for her 4th grade field trip to St. Augustine. All of the kids were asked to be at the school at 5:30, but of course my sweet Kaylyn told her teacher that we would be there early (I think she was just really excited). All of the kids were so happy when they arrived at the school and it was a joy to be going with them.
We left the school around 6:00 and we were on our way to the St. Augustine.
For breakfast, all of the buses stopped at a rest area. The food was provided by one of Kaylyn's classmates, Jacob (his parents, Jolene and Rob, own Atomic Coffee) and it was delicious! Jolene brought bagels, muffins, pastries and fruit for all of the kids and the parents in our class.
After getting our bellies full, we were on our way to our first stop in St. Augustine...the Alligator Farm.

My group of kids were the BEST group that I could have asked for! They got along with each other, they were well mannered, they were polite to all of the adults, they let me take their picture and they were funny.

The amount of alligators in this one place was amazing and kind of scary! There were way too many to count (there were this many on both sides of the walkway we were on) and they were all hungry and ready to be fed by the kids.

After the Alligator Farm, our class headed to the Castillo de San Marcos or as many people know it, the Fort. Our tour guide was Mr. Dennis and he was great with the kids.
I'm not sure why, but Mr. Dennis decided to hold Kaylyn's hand as he lead the class to where they were going. Kaylyn was completely okay with it because she was first in line (if you look closely you can see the smile on her face).

By now, it was time for lunch and at this point, we were all really, really cold. We headed to the Visitors Center where we had sandwiches provided by Honey Baked Ham along with chips, a cookie and a drink.
After lunch, we took a Trolley Tour of the town. It was freezing, but the kids didn't seem to mind.

Our final stop was the Old Jail. The kids loved this and really enjoyed being able to run around and go in all of the cells.
Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Hadley locked up...they were so much fun and the kids loved this!

So funny...
The Old Jail tour ended our day with the exception of being able to go shopping for a little bit and then getting pizza for dinner. It was a GREAT trip and I am still so excited that I was able to go with Kaylyn.
