Family Fun at Snow Mountain

The weekend before Christmas we took a family trip to Stone Mountain in Atlanta. During the winter months the park is turned into "Snow" Mountain and we knew we wanted to take the girls. With the cold weather, it was going to be too cold to camp, so we decided to stay in a yurt. It was the BEST decision ever. The yurt was so awesome and we all really enjoyed it!

We arrived at our yurt on Saturday, December 19th.

The yurts are right on the lake and they all have beautiful views.

There is a front and back deck.

Inside of the yurt, there was an air conditioner/heater, a queen bed, a set of bunk beds, a rocking chair and a high top table with two high chairs. You only need to bring your linens, food, items to cook with and shower stuff. There is not a bathroom in the yurt, so you still use the campground facilities and you have to cook outside just like if you were camping.

The girls decided that YaYa would sleep on the top bunk the first night and Ashton would sleep on the top bunk the second night.

I loved the skylight. It was awesome to look up and see the stars at night.

Sweet Ashton was so excited!

Our view from the back deck.

You could see Stone Mountain from the deck too...

Delaney was excited to check things out too...

Each yurt site has its own picnic table, grill and fire ring...just like the campsites.

After settling in, we decided to go take a ride on the Singalong Christmas Train.

It was so cold, but we bundled up and looked forward to the journey around the mountain.

After the train ride, we went to take the girls to play at the Great Barn and on the way, we ran into Mr. and Mrs. Claus. They were so sweet waiting for their parade to start and even took a picture with Kaylyn and Ashton.

The following morning we woke up and got ready for our day in the snow.

Ash was so ready!

Since Delaney was too little to ride the tubes, I stayed with her while Trey and the girls went for the first time.

She didn't seem to mind and loved playing in the snow. And are her little boots not the cutest thing ever!?!

Next, it was my turn to go with the big girls...

Sweet sisters!

Love these two!!!

At the top, waiting in our tube to go down the hill...

We also did the single riders and Ash loved it.

Just hanging with the snowmen...

And eating some snacks.

Once the big girls were ready to take a break from tubing, Ashton and Delaney were able to go on the little kid tubes.

You cannot tell from the pictures, but these went so fast with Delaney in them.

They LOVED it and went over and over again...

Ashton's smile lasted all day long...she was having the time of her life.

Delaney was too little for the sleds, but Ashton really enjoyed them.

I love the BIG smile on her face. She was having so much fun.

Daddy helping the girls build something out of snow...

Snow Angel

After playing in the snow we decided to play putt-putt. Delaney was so tired and passed out in the stroller.

The Singalong Christmas Train that we rode the night before.

We took the Summit Skyride to the top of the mountain, but it was so, so, so cold and we didn't stay long.

Jumping on rocks and trying to stay out of the water...

I just knew they were going to fall in...

Christmas Vacation - 2015

After getting back to the yurt and getting warm, Delaney was so funny listening to music with the headphones. She sat there and bounced up and down to the music for the longest time and we all got the biggest kick out of it.

The last night was Ashton's turn for the top bunk and she was as snug as a bug in a rug...

This trip was so much fun and I highly recommend visiting Stone Mountain when it is turned into Snow Mountain. And you MUST stay in a yurt!!! It's a vacation that we will always remember and I hope to do it again. Our next trip however will be in a tent for Memorial Day weekend along with lots of our closest friends!
