Ashton's Harvest Party

On November 13th, Ashton's school had their annual Harvest Party. Before the party festivities began, there was a small performance put on by the kids. We learned recently that performing in front of an audience is not exactly Ashton's thing, so we weren't sure how it was going to go. The day before, she cried almost the whole time while practicing, but eventually pulled herself together before it was over. On the day of the performance, I could tell as soon as she walked out that it was taking everything in her power to keep it together. She kept her arms crossed the whole time and refused to sing or do any of the motions, but she did hold it together until the very end when she saw her daddy. It was so sad to watch, but I was still very proud of her for even staying on the stage.

Poor baby...

She literally stood like this the whole time.

And to think, we have to do this again next month for the Christmas presentation...

Once it was over, she was so happy for her daddy to get her off of the stage.

Woohoo!!! I'm done!

Even though she hasn't conquered her fear of performing in front of an audience (though I wish you could see her perform for us at the house) she has fallen in love with other things that used to terrify her.

One of her new favorite things to do is to ride a horse. If you remember from any previous post where animals were involved, she would have absolutely nothing to do with them (she only liked humans). Now though, things have changed.

This is look when the horse first starts walking...

And this is her realizing that she loves it!

Another thing she has finally warmed up to is face painting. I'm not sure why she didn't like it previously, but she knew on this day that she was going to do it. I think having all of your friends do it and one of your really good friends sitting right beside you makes a huge difference.

I love this sweet thing so much!

So pretty!

Ashton also decided that she would "pet" the bunny...

Not for too long though.

Ashton loves her some Scarlett!

In just a few short months, this little stinker has grown leaps and bounds. She may not like performing in front of strangers (she gets it honest...I can't stand it), but she has found so many other things that she loves! I truly feel like she is such a "big" kid since starting school and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

I love you punkin' dunkin'!
