Family Vacation - St. Teresa (Part 1)

We left for our second summer vacation two Sunday's ago. We headed to St. Teresa to swim, kayak, enjoy the sun and some family time...also for a little bit of relaxation! Trey and I had been before with Ashton, but Kaylyn had never been with us. It was nice that she was able to be a part of this trip and she was so excited! The house we stayed at was right on the ocean and there were kayaks to use and a swimming pool.

We arrived Sunday afternoon and the first thing the girls saw were the stairs. They were the last thing that I wanted them to notice...especially Ashton.

Monday morning, Trey and Kaylyn decided they wanted to kayak to Alligator point.

Mother nature however had a different plan and with the clouds rolling in fast, they decided not to go so far out. This was perfect timing for them to grab Ashton for a quick trip.

Ashton loved it!

Before heading back in the house, they decided to take a quick swim.

Twizzler break.

The weather was starting to get bad by this point and the wind really picked up fast.

When it's bad weather at the beach and your house has stairs, what better to do than go down them on a boogie board!?! Kaylyn was so excited, it was like it was Christmas morning!!!

She was going a little too fast and was a little too close!

During Ashton's nap, Trey and Kaylyn finally made it to Alligator Point in the kayak, but when she woke up it was time to go swim in the pool and swing on the swings.

She's brave like her YaYa!

Even Trey got in on the action!

Time to show off what they got on their kayak trip from earlier...

Kaylyn wasn't so sure about picking it up, but Ashton wasn't scared at all.

On Tuesday, we decided to drive to St. George for the day, but once again, mother nature had other plans for us. On the way to the beach however, we passed the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve in Eastpoint and decided to go back. If you've never been, I highly suggest it (we even went a second time, but that will come in Part 2). It's not advertised very well, but it is right before you get on the bridge to head to the island and it's free!

Soft Shell Turtle

Gar

Stingray

Diamondback Terrapin

Spotted Batfish (the ugliest thing ever!)

There was so much to do and see...

After a long day, it was time to relax back at the house and it's always more fun when you can sit on your sister's shoulders.

Never are the girls still enough to capture sweet moments like these, but finally I was able to. These are some of my favorite pictures ever!

At this point Kaylyn knew I was taking the picture, but Ashton had no clue and I LOVE it!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our vacation. Boppa & Grandma joined us for a few days and we had a blast!

  1. Thanks for sharing these precious pictures. This looks like a perfect place to spend some special time with the special people in your life. I, like you, love the pictures where the girls (especially Ashton) were unaware they were being photographed. Love you all.
