My baby is 9!

Last Wednesday, we celebrated Kaylyn's 9th birthday.  I say this all of the time, but it truly feels like just yesterday I was pregnant with her.  She has brought so much joy to my life in 9 years and I am so proud to be her mom!  She is tiny, but full of spunk and if you've ever been around her even for a little bit, you know exactly what I mean.

The Saturday before her birthday she had a party at Trousdell with her family and closest friends.  All of the girls had a blast and her boy cousins did too (they couldn't resist jumping in the foam pit)!

The morning of Kaylyn's birthday, she decided to open presents first thing (we always save the presents from us for her actual birthday, so that she has something to look forward to).  She was very excited and even more excited that Ashton was awake too!

This next set of pictures are funny to me because in the first one, she is checking to make sure I got the navy ones that she wanted instead of the pink ones that I wanted her to have :)  You can tell that she is so happy to have got what SHE wanted!

After presents, it was time for birthday breakfast.  Kaylyn requested cinnamon rolls and wanted every single one for herself (she did share 1 with Ashton).

Since it was her birthday I decided to let her miss school for the day.  We already had dentist appointments and she was supposed to have a horse riding lesson as well (it ended up not taking place...grrrr...).  Since I had to change plans last minute, Kaylyn decided she wanted to see a movie which I completely agreed to...anything for the BIRTHDAY girl!  I didn't know how Ashton was going to do, but I thought I could just tire her out and she would fall asleep.  Let's just say that she made it through the first hour and fifteen minutes and then crashed.

Birthday girl at the dentist....and us girls at the movie (after Ashton crashed)

For Kaylyn's birthday dinner (yes, we do a lot of celebrating) she chose Osaka.  She loves the steak!  Ashton has been when she was younger, but this time she was VERY interested in the cook.  It was pretty funny...she wouldn't even turn to look at me, but Kaylyn did.

It was a great way to end her 9th birthday.

I LOVE this day...

I know that some people do not agree, but I absolutely LOVE Valentine's Day.  At our house, it is definitely a big deal.

Last year for Valentine's I made Trey a card that had me, Kaylyn and Ashton's handprint.  I like the idea of "handmade" so we did it again this year, but this time we each made a card.  They all turned out different, but PERFECT at the same time.

I made my card at my MOPS meeting and loved it!  I'm not crafty, so they make it pretty easy by having all of the supplies for you.  Trey couldn't believe that I made it.

Kaylyn made her card all by herself with no help at all...it was super cute and very sweet!  She definitely LOVES Trey!!!

For Ashton, I saw this in my MomSense magazine that I get from MOPS.  I thought it was absolutely adorable and knew I had to make it.  I think it turned out great!

I tried to get a picture of Ashton & daddy with her feet, so that years from now I could see how big (or little) she was when I made it & this is what we got :)

I also made cards for my brother, sister-in-law and nephew from the boys.  I figured that they needed to have something to give as well.  Their's turned out absolutely adorable and I think Lucas, Kim and Kaden were all very happily surprised.

Besides cards, we all got wonderful goodies as well.  The girls and I shopped for daddy and he shopped for all of us....and he did wonderful I must say!  Ashton got 2 books, Kaylyn got a gift card to Books A Million and a joke book and I got pearl earrings and a necklace, a new shirt, a charm for my Pandora bracelet and a box of conversation hearts which I love.

For dinner, we decided to stay in instead of going out.  Trey cooked an amazing meal and I think it was better than anything we would have got at a restaurant.  We had steak, lamb chops, lobster mac-n-cheese, asparagus, zucchini and yellow squash.

It was the PERFECT end to a PERFECT day!
